Kiwi Week 2011
Monday 16th May to Sunday 22nd May
Most of the work achieved by the Whakatane Kiwi Trust, including predator control, kiwi management, kiwi aversion training for dogs, education, kiwi releases, fund raising and publicity, is undertaken by volunteers. Helping the Trust to support its volunteers and to provide support and equipment directly contributes to the wellbeing of the kiwi.
Kiwi Week 2011
Monday 16th to Sunday 22nd May 2011
During Kiwi Week, the Whakatane Kiwi Trust will promote Education and Awareness of the Whakatane Kiwi and it's habitat which will include amongst other activities,
A training day for Dogs to be Kiwi Aversion trained.
The opportunity to undertake a Kiwi Listening Walk at night.
A Kiwi Chick Release (subject to the final health check).
During Kiwi Week there will also be:
- A kiwi display by the Whakatane District Council.
- A kiwi display at BNZ Whakatane.
- Dog aversion Training session from 9a.m. on Sunday 22nd May at Maraetotara Reserve, Ohope - follow the signs.
